The Amalfi Coast is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: colourful villages clinging to the cliffs, lemon groves, terraced vineyards and a road that winds above the sea for about 50 km. The easiest and most relaxing way to see it is with your own driver, in a comfortable Mercedes minivan, stopping wherever you like.
Your driver picks you up at your hotel, villa or port in Naples, Sorrento or on the Amalfi Coast and stays with you all day, about 8 hours. You set the pace: more time on the beach in Positano, a longer lunch in Amalfi, or a walk in the gardens of Ravello.
The itinerary
Positano
The postcard of the Amalfi Coast: pastel houses climbing the hillside, narrow lanes full of boutiques, ceramics and handmade sandals, and the majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta above the beach of Spiaggia Grande. Your driver drops you in the centre and picks you up when you are ready.
Photo stops along the coast
Between Positano and Amalfi the road offers some of the best viewpoints of the coast. On request we stop at Praiano and at the Fjord of Furore, a narrow gorge with a tiny fishing village under a high bridge.
Amalfi
The town that gave its name to the coast was once a powerful maritime republic. Climb the grand staircase of the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, wander through the old streets and, if you like, visit the Paper Museum, which tells the story of Amalfi’s centuries-old papermaking tradition. It is the best place to stop for lunch.
Ravello
High above the sea, Ravello is quieter and elegant. The gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, with the famous Terrace of Infinity, offer one of the most spectacular views of the whole coast. In summer the town hosts the concerts of the Ravello Festival.

Stop 1 at: Sorrento
Meet your driver at your central Naples hotel or at Naples’ central train station or at your accomodation in Sorrento. Then, board on your air-conditioned Mercedes E or V class and head south to Sorrento, the clifftop resort just west of the UNESCO-listed Amalfi Coast, a 50-mile (72-km) chunk of shore famed for its steep cliffs and confetti-colored villages. On arrival in Sorrento, enjoy an hour of free time to explore this charming town as you wish. Perhaps stroll the winding lanes, enjoy the bars and shops in the central square, Piazza Tasso, or check out the majestic 15th-century cathedral — it’s entirely up to you. Duration: 1 hour of free time. -
Stop 2 at: Positano
Then, go to the your car or van with driver and keep your camera ready as you drive along the Amalfi Coast, tracing its winding cliffside road between lemon groves and the sparkling Mediterranean on route to Positano. you'll drive between cliffs, Positano’s pastel houses fall steeply down to the sea, forming one of the Amalfi Coast's scenic highpoints. Arrive in the town and use an hour of free time here to perhaps shop at the chic boutiques and galleries, relax over coffee, or admire the town and it's beauties. -
Stop 3 at: Amalfi
After the visit of Positano you will drive along the coast passing througtout several village. Next, arrive in the town of Amalfi and enjoy another hour to explore its sights at your leisure. Perhaps visit its striking 9th-century cathedral, browse the many shops hidden in the lanes or enjoy lunch (own expense) at one of the tempting restaurants. -
Stop 4 at: Ravello
Your final stop is the town of Ravello, higher up the cliffs. There, you will get off the minibus as close as possible to the heart of the village, which is located in a pedestrian area. With an hour of free time here, maybe look around the impressive cathedral (Duomo) or visit the 13th-century Villa Rufolo (own expense), whose cliff-hugging gardens serve up jaw-dropping coastal views. Afterward, drive back to Naples, where your trip ends at your original departure point or any city center location of your choosing. -
