Naples

Don’t miss Piazza del Plebiscito with the Royal Palace, the Teatro di San Carlo, one of the oldest opera houses in the world, and the medieval Castel Nuovo overlooking the port. Positano

Positano is a village of colourful houses climbing the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, with narrow lanes full of boutiques, ceramics and handmade sandals. Its symbol is the church of Santa Maria Assunta, with a dome of majolica tiles and a Byzantine icon of the Virgin Mary. Below it, the beach of Spiaggia Grande is the perfect spot to watch the boats come and go.

The Amalfi Coast

The coastal road between Positano and Vietri sul Mare runs for about 50 km along cliffs, lemon groves and small fishing villages. In Amalfi, visit the cathedral of Sant’Andrea with its striped façade and grand staircase, and the Paper Museum, which tells the story of the town’s centuries-old papermaking tradition.

A little higher up, Ravello is famous for the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone and for its summer music festival. It is an easy day trip from Positano or Amalfi.
